Block 3: Advanced Sports & Entertainment Marketing Blog Entry # 2 (25 points)

New and innovative sports or entertainment related products hit the market all the time.  Some turn out to be the next best thing while others fall by the waistside and never make it.  Take a look at the "product review" link below and and examine these new products.

After taking a look at them for a few minutes and forming a quick opinion on them, respond to the following questions. 

In paragraph # 1, in a minimum of 5 sentences, which of the 5 products reviewed on page 1 do you feel has the best chance of becoming a highly sought after product by it's target market?  Why did you select this product over the others?  In paragraph # 2, discuss what you feel is the most important part of the marketing mix (people, place, product, price, promotion) for a company to focus on when marketing a new product?  Why?

  1. I believe that the stuffitts will be the most effective product because its the only product that doesnt just relate to one sport. The stuffitt product can be used for all shoes and all cleats. Eventhough i dont think its the best idea, i believe that this product will be most effective other than the other products. Numerous consumers will have more effectiveness in this product then in a number 1 fan, or a mojo pitching cage.

  2. I think that the "Your Shoe's Dry Cleaner" will be the best product and it has the highest chance of becoming a big seller. I chose this product because it is a problem everyone can relate to, everyone has gone out when it is rainning and gotten their shoes wet, and we all hate having to wait till our shoes dry out to wear them again. I think that this product will do better than the others because all the other products are directed to a certain type of person, if they play a certain sport, or if they like to go to carnivals or if they are sports fans.
    I think that when you are marketing a new product that the most important part of the marketing mix for a company to focus on it people. I think that if you have a good product then people will want to buy it, but you have to find the right people to sell it to first. If you market your product to the wrong people then you will not make any money, but if you market the product to people who are interested in it then you will make lots of money.

  3. THe product that i chose was the mojo pitching cage. the reason was because it caught my eye. i fell that the product would be a very good succes in the industry.like many familys take there kids to batting cages in what not in the have plenty of fun.

    I feel that they should market this product in every event that they could. they should have it at baseball games and amusment parks. it will be very important that they just dont choose one specific age group it should be all over

  4. All of these products have a good chance of being a great and sought after product. The product that will most likely to most profitable is the shooting buddy. The shooting buddy is affordable and most benificial to NBA players and the common man who wants to straighten his or her shot. I think that schools will start buying these for their athletes to use during practice.

    Companys need to focus more on product more than anything in my opinion. if they promote the crap out of something and the product is horrible than it just becomes wasted money. Anyone can make a product that helps the average person but if the product doesn't work than it is just more wasted money. Product is waht the people want not some knock off or a bad product. when someone goes to the store they look at price then the product. if something is priced reasonably and the product does what it says that it does, then that product will take off.

  5. I think the shooting buddy will have the best chance of becoming a good market product. I chose this product over the others because i play basketball and I feel that this product will make each ball player shoot the same everytime and give them a highr chance of making the basket. Also, if you play basketball alot this will help your form straight and consistent. now with your form staraight coaches will see that you know the right way to shoot.

    I feel the most important part of the marketing mix for a company to focus on when marketing a new product is promotion. I think promotion because if you have a product that you want to promote you would want to do it in a good way so that everybody sees it and thinks about getting that product. If you promote your product well the consumer would think about how things will go if they had that product so to me i think the promoting part is the most important way.

  6. I think the Shooter Tutor has the best chance of becoming highly in demand by not only NHL players, but soccer players world-wide. The article makes reference to the needs of the soccer industry now and what may evolve the way the sport is played. It’s a good product because the company selling the product thought about the players and how practicing shooting can be done by one player, maybe in his/her free time or whenever other players aren’t around to assist in blocking his/her shots. Goal scoring should be more efficient with the help and practice of this new product. I’m sure there will be evidence of change in how different teams score in their games.
    In a marketing mix, I think the most important part that the company should focus on when introducing a new product is the product. The product is always the most important part because it is what helps the business or company make their profits. The product also attracts the people and price is dependent on how well the product is made. Importance is also based on what needs or wants the products meet for its buyers and a company’s job is to focus on what will help their business excel.

  7. After looking at all of the products there were three main ones that stand out but the one i liked the most was the Stuffitts. They were the things that dry the inside of you shoes after washing them. Although they do not actually dry them they are designed to wick moisture away from shoes quickly. Also getting rid of undesirable smells and stuff left behind by sweat and mildew. I know this would be a pretty good product for my family because we wash our shoes sometimes.
    I think all five steps are important, you cant have one with out the other. But if i really had to choose one it would be the promotion i guess. Just for the simple fact that if it wasnt getting promoted in anyway then no one would know about it. There are many ways you could promote a produck tohough so it not like your stuck to just one way. I also think the price is a big part of it becasue if the price is too high then no one would but it. The Snuffits people did a good job at promoting their product when i looked at t he websites, the graph sold it to me.

  8. In my opinion, this is a very smart business opportunity. As we all know, the sports and entertainment industry is growing larger and larger with everyday. More and more people are staring to get active in sports so I don’t think there will be any problems with selling these products.
    Another reason why this was a good opportunity is because the Olympics is currently underway. With everyone watching their country compete, their own competitiveness may start to be fueled. A lot of these products aren’t for people starting sports, but for people who want that competitive edge. For those that want to be elite players, these products are useful tools.
    With a world dominated by sports, these products should do fine in the market.

  9. The stuffits is most liable to the most draw consideration to its target market. That’s because spring, a warm season is around the corner. During warm weather conditions many individuals have the problem of wearing and cleaning stench sneakers. Many outdoor events are coming up and athletes would prefer stuffits rather than a shoe which would stink after their exercises. The shoe is long lasting.

    Companies and businesses should be put more effort in the product. The quality of the product attracts customers. They should spend more time and money to perfect the product rather than promoting an undesirable good to the market. The ability for the shoe to last, material, shape and size of product matters a lot to the consumers.
